buck stops here!
The
Solid Waste Management Department is headed by the Chief Engineer.
The Deputy
Engineers
of the City, Western suburbs and the Eastern suburbs and the Head
Supervisors
of
the various zones report to the Chief Engineer. The Asst. Head Supervisor
is responsible for
this department at each ward.

and Transportation of Garbage

of solid waste and animal carcasses
- Sanitary
measures to keep the city clean

Some
acts that cause a public nuisance are liable to be fined on complaint…
- Depositing
garbage on any public property, drainage channel or canals
- Depositing
the unsegregrated waste into dustbins.
- Permitting
offensive liquid to flow onto a public street or open space
- Unhygienic
storage of harmful material
- Dumping
debris on roads, into drains in public dustbins
- Manufacture,
sale and use of thin plastic bags below 20 microns
- Use
of coloured plastic bags manufactured using recycled plastic below
20 microns

Though
it is not the responsibility of this Department to clean
Housegullies, it does undertake this service. It is therefore
the responsibility of the Residents to ensure that garbage
is not dumped in these gullies.
