Praja Dialogue (E-citizenship)

The E-Citizenship Program allows you to:

1. Have a dialogue with your Councillor/MLA directly.

2. Access reports on functions and performance.

3. Network/ Link with people from your constituency.

4. Contribute in the development of your area with your ER.

5. Be an Active citizen from being a concerned citizen

By virtue of living in this city, you become a part of its governance. You may choose to overlook the inefficiencies in service delivery, but you cannot deny that this affects your life at different points in time. You barely use your vote because you wonder whether it will make any difference to the political system prevailing in this country. But you do your duty by paying your taxes regularly. Your contribution to the taxation pool is an important asset for the state and the national governments.

Over time, you have learnt to become resilient to the administrative and political machinery because you are forced to think about your immediate circle of influence such as your family, your workplace and your social circle. Your limited resources prevent you from becoming an active citizen. You feel that it would take up too much of your time and energy to become involved in the problems of your locality. You also realize that there are not many avenues to interface with the institutions governing this city.

But we believe that a difference can be made by becoming an informed and aware individual citizen. The knowledge of your constituency and the elected representatives can help you to participate in the affairs of your ward in the short term as well as in the long run.

Join our E-citizenship program!

Praja’s E-citizen program offers you an interface with your local Councillor and MLA.
It provides you with the opportunity to become an active citizen and to become involved with changing the situation in your locality.
By becoming an E citizen, you get special access to information related to the issues of your local area. This information is presented to you in the form of social audit reports that allow you to see; what are some of the immediate problems in your area, the potential problems that could arise, and the work done by your Councillors and MLAs in your ward.
These reports are also a mirror of the work that your elected representatives are doing. Hence, you can use these reports to question your elected representatives and hold them accountable.
You can also access the discussion board where other E-citizens like you will be deliberating on the issues about your constituency and your elected representatives.
You can send messages to your elected representatives via the message board and we will make sure that these are received by the Councillors and the MLAs.
You can upload information about your constituency and your elected representatives for others to see and know what is happening in your area.
