The
Mumbai Fire Brigade deapartment is headed by the Chief Fire Officer,
who is assisted by four Dy. Chief Fire Officers and 6 Divisional Officers.
The
Functions…
- Provision
of fire protection in the City of Greater Mumbai.
- Provision
of services during emergencies, such as, building collapses, drowning
cases, gas leakage, oil spillage, road and rail accidents, bird
and animal rescues, fallen trees etc.
- Appropriate
action during natural calamities.
- Providing
consultancy in implementing Fire Protection and Fire Safety in
industries / high rise buildings and other buildings having special
fire risks.
Fire
Stations and Control Room ...
- There
are 14 Fire Stations in City, 4 Fire Stations in Eastern Suburbs
and 5 Fire Stations in Western Suburbs. All the Fire Stations
are manned round the clock.
- Fire
Brigade Department has well Established Control Room at Byculla
Fire Brigade Head Quarters. Fire Brigade contact No. 101 has 16
lines. Apart from these, there are four telephone Nos. 308 59
91-2-3-4 to contact Fire Brigade Department.
- Fire
Brigade Control Room is connected with all essential services
such as, Police, BEST, BSES, MSEB, Civil Defence, Home Guards,
Water Works Department, Mumbai Port Trust and the Municipal Control
Room.
